UN VIAGGIO TRA LE EPOCHE: DALLA GIOIELLERIA STORICA ALLE GRANDI MAISON

thu 1 October 2026

Important Jewellery, Silver and Luxury Bags is the forthcoming auction at International Art Sale, taking place on 27 and 28 October 2026. The sale unfolds over four sessions and comprises 563 lots. More than a century of jewellery history is traced through a carefully curated selection ranging from the refined creations of historic jewellery houses to the most iconic expressions of the contemporary Italian scene. The catalogue brings together pieces of particular interest to collectors, exceptional gemstones, Italian silver, handbags and accessories by prestigious maisons. Opening the sale is an early 20th-century Cartier pendant (lot 263, €18,000–24,000), crafted in platinum and adorned with diamonds, emeralds and turquoise, together with a refined lapis lazuli plaque enhanced by engraved motifs and cabochon turquoise. The piece bears witness to the renewal of jewellery design at the beginning of the 20th century, when coloured gemstones assumed an increasingly central role in the composition. Further underscoring its historical and design significance, the preparatory drawing for the pendant is reproduced in Il design Cartier visto da Ettore Sottsass, published on the occasion of the 2002 exhibition at Palazzo Reale in Milan. The Art Deco period is represented by the Marzo Paris bracelet (lot 210, €5,000–6,000), distinguished by large rectangular onyx links joined by openwork Greek-key motifs and enhanced with sugar-loaf-cut cornelian. Bearing the maker’s mark of master goldsmith Georges Lenfant, one of the most highly regarded Parisian craftsmen of his time, the bracelet conveys the aesthetic of the maison, founded in Paris in 1901 by Lorenzo Marzo, through its crisp geometries and striking contrasts of colour. Among the auction’s top lots are three creations in which exceptional gemstones take centre stage: a Bulgari ring featuring a 10.10-carat brilliant-cut diamond (lot 257, €60,000–70,000); a pair of earrings set with Colombian emeralds totalling 8.50 carats (lot 255, €38,000–45,000); and a ring featuring an 11.26-carat Sri Lankan sapphire (lot 246, €30,000–40,000). The sale concludes with its fourth session, devoted to leading
